An update on our progress towards academisation
Following our receipt of an academy order term, a lot of work has been going on behind the scenes to complete all the legal processes necessary to transfer the school from Suffolk County Council to the St Edmundsbury and Ipswich Diocesan Multi academy Trust. We were hoping to convert on September 1st but there has been a hold up in some of the agreements that need to be negotiated between the two parties. Delays in conversions are very common and this is something we were expecting. We are now hoping to convert on December 1st.
When we convert the name of the school will change - we shall become St Matthews Church of England Primary School (we will lose “voluntary aided” from our name). However other changes should be minimal, and mostly concern the way finances and administration are run. From the point of view of our pupils, they should not notice a thing! Our staff also should not notice much of a change within the school, but they will have opportunities to share good practice with a wide network of other staff in the trust’s schools and work together across the trust to ensure excellent education for all our children.
