Our Spiritual Garden

The School Council raised money for our Spiritual Garden, which was opened by Bishop Clive, in April 2012. St Matthew's School and Church worked together on the development of the Spiritual Garden. Governors and members of the congregation came to the opening and a group of pupils were interviewed by BBC Radio Suffolk about their thoughts on the Spiritual Garden- the interview was a powerful testament of the children’s faith and our school ethos. This is the prayer that Bishop Clive prayed at the blessing of the garden:

Lord God, may this garden be a blessing to all who enjoy it,
may it be a delight and joy to all who look after it and cherish it.
May it be a place of safety and care for each other;
a plot of earth which grows and blooms and flowers;
where soft refreshing rain falls on soil full of promise,
where our eyes and ears and noses are refreshed by the beauties of your creation and the gifts of each other.
May this be a garden set aside in this churchyard dedicated for our school,
may our school grow friendship, hospitality, and care for each other.
May we all know your love for us come close, in this garden, in our hearts,
for you are alive for evermore, walking in the garden of our world.
Amen.
