  • Primary Science Quality Mark

    Thu 13 Sep 2018

We have been awarded the Primary Science Quality Mark!

In September Primary Science Quality Marks have been given to just 230 schools across the country to celebrate a commitment to excellence in science teaching and learning.

Jane Turner, PSQM National Director said: “Gaining a Primary Science Quality Award is a significant achievement for a school. The profile and quality of science teaching and learning in each awarded school is very high. Children are engaging with great science both in and outside the classroom, developing positive attitudes towards science as well as secure scientific understanding and skills. Science subject leaders, their colleagues, head teachers, children, parents and governors should be very proud".

Thank you very much to Mr Ridsdale for leading Science at St Matthew’s.

  • Attendance and punctuality

    Attendance & Punctuality

Most of the children arrive in school on time; however, there are a significant number of children frequently arriving late.

As stated in our last newsletter (20th July 2018), this is to remind parents that from today, any child arriving at school after 09.05am will be classed as absent. A meeting with parents will be convened, if this happens on 5 occasions. If the matter is not resolved quickly, it will be referred to the Education Attendance Service and a Fixed Penalty Notice (a fine) may be issued. To ensure a smooth transition to improved punctuality, there will be an amnesty on issuing fines for the first half term.
