Nick Butterworth
Wed 20 Nov 2019The well known children's author, Nick Butterworth, visited our school and talked to the pupils in Years 1 and 2. He showed us how he creates his illustrations and talked about the inspiration for his many books, including Percy the Park Keeper and Q Pootle 5. The children loved meeting him and had lots of interesting questions to ask. Thank you to those who attended the book signing.

Church School inspection - Excellent
Mon 11 Nov 2019On 29th October 2019 an inspector came to St Matthew's to conduct a SIAMS visit - Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools. She spent time talking to the children, visiting classes, meeting with parents, teachers and governors, in order to assess our effectiveness as a church school. I'm delighted to let you know that we received an overall judgement of EXCELLENT. The inspector said that St Matthew's is "a shining example of a Church school" and that "pupils talk confidently and with passion about how everyone in the school lives out the vision and how the values support that".
